— Design Brief —

Suzanne M Rogers Interiors was hired for a complete renovation of a master bath suite, dressing room, and laundry room in a log cabin farm house. Project involved expanding the space to almost three times the original square footage, which resulted in the attractive exterior rock wall becoming a feature interior wall in the bathroom, accenting the stunning copper soaking bathtub.
Rooms were delineated by function, using old doors and reclaimed wood from the farm property for custom barn doors, to enclose the spaces. Reclaimed wood was also used for the interior and exterior trim and for custom shelving and cabinets throughout.
A two-tone brick floor in a herringbone pattern compliments the variations of color on the interior rock and log walls. A large picture window near the copper bathtub allows for an unrestricted view to the farmland. The dressing room area features an oversized copper framed mirror juxtaposed against a rustic chair and reflects the interior log walls. A photo gallery of original color photography of the cotton fields taken by Suzanne and printed on gallery wrapped canvas hang in the vestibule of this suite.
The laundry room has a fabulous white enamel and iron trough sink with double goose neck faucets—ideal for scrubbing dirty farmer's clothing. The cabinet and shelving were custom made using the reclaimed wood from the farm. A ribbed glass panel was installed in the door to the laundry room, which was retrieved from a wood pile, so that the light from the room's window would flow through to the dressing room and vestibule, while still providing privacy between the spaces.
This was a challenging project working with the log and rock walls and the limitations of square footage, but every detail was carefully planned and was executed perfectly.
